Amatiteña Blanco Origen Tequila is a traditional high-proof blanco crafted in Amatitán, Jalisco, with a production philosophy rooted in historic tequila-making methods. Bottled at an expressive 49% ABV (98 proof), Origen amplifies the cooked agave, smoke, mineral, and earthy characteristics that define Amatiteña’s distinctive style.

Produced from 100% Blue Weber Agave, Amatiteña Origen begins with estate-grown agave before being cooked in a traditional stone oven using direct mesquite wood fire. Unlike more industrialized production methods, the wood-fired cooking process contributes a pronounced roasted and smoky dimension while preserving the natural sweetness of the cooked agave.

The cooked agave is then crushed using a tahona, the traditional stone milling wheel associated with historic tequila production. Fermentation takes place with agave fibers in open wooden vats using spring water and naturally occurring ambient yeast.

Distillation takes place in historic copper pot stills, completing a production process designed to preserve the robust character of the agave rather than creating an overly neutral spirit.

The result is a powerful and highly expressive blanco. The aroma combines mesquite smoke, cooked agave, caramelized sweetness, and citrus zest, while the palate develops layers of earthy herbs, tropical fruit, spice, minerals, and smoke. At 98 proof, the texture is full and concentrated, leading into a persistent smoky and mineral-driven finish.

Compared with Amatiteña’s standard Blanco, Origen is bottled at the significantly higher strength of 49% ABV, giving its traditional production character greater intensity and concentration.
