Named after the Corryvreckan whirlpool, the famous and treacherous body of water north of Islay and Jura, this whisky is designed to reflect the intensity of its namesake. Corryvreckan draws its distinctive character from maturation in bourbon American oak and new French oak casks. The bourbon oak contributes classic Ardbeg character, while new French oak gives Corryvreckan an especially bold, spicy edge.

The aroma is intense and complex, bringing together dark chocolate, warm blackcurrants, muscovado sugar, pine, smoke, and earthy notes. Adding a little water reveals another dimension, with briny sea air, seaweed, and smoky bacon emerging from beneath the whisky's darker aromas.

On the palate, Corryvreckan delivers a powerful rush of peppered steak and pepper sauce, followed by espresso, melted dark fruits, bitter almonds, star anise, hickory, and floral touches of violet.
