For the current 2022 vintage, Dark Horse sources Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from select vineyards in California's Lodi region, an area well suited to producing ripe, concentrated red wines. The vintage developed intense color, structure, and complex flavor characteristics despite lower vineyard yields.

The wine opens with an expressive bouquet of dark berries, freshly ground coffee, and toasted oak. These aromas continue onto the palate, where deeper notes of cola, shaved dark chocolate, and cinnamon add richness and complexity.

Dark Horse uses extended skin contact on selected Cabernet lots—some spending as long as 28 days on the skins—to build complexity, structure, color, and a richer mouthfeel. Individual lots are kept separate during production before being carefully brought together during blending.

The result is a bold, well-structured, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated dark-fruit flavors and a strong, persistent finish. Its combination of ripe fruit, oak, coffee, chocolate, and spice makes it an excellent companion for hearty foods.
