The blend incorporates two classic MGP rye mash bills: a 95% rye / 5% malted barley whiskey chosen for its bold spice, and a 51% rye / 45% corn / 4% malted barley whiskey selected for balance and sweetness. After initial maturation in new charred American oak, the whiskey spends additional time in Jamaican rum casks that previously held Tennessee whiskey before aging rum for decades. These unique casks contribute rich notes of pineapple, banana, molasses, and tropical fruit while enhancing the whiskey's natural rye spice rather than overpowering it.

The current Release 25-001 is bottled at 49.65% ABV (99.3 Proof) and ranges from 8 to 11 years old within the batch. It opens with aromas of overripe pineapple, brown sugar, baking spice, and signature Jamaican rum funk. The palate delivers bold rye spice layered with caramelized tropical fruit, molasses, toasted oak, and rich estery character before finishing long, warming, and exceptionally complex. It is outstanding neat, with a splash of water, or in a Rum-Rye Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
