Fallow Edition forms part of Lochlea's original series of seasonal limited releases, each inspired by a different stage of the farming calendar. Fallow Edition represents autumn, when the barley harvest has finished and the fields at Lochlea Farm are left fallow to rest and recover. Its distinctive deep-purple label was chosen to evoke the crisp autumn leaves covering the farm as temperatures begin to fall.

For First Crop, Lochlea matured the whisky exclusively in 100% first-fill Oloroso Sherry butts, making it the distillery's first release to rely solely on this cask type. The sherry maturation brings additional richness and dried-fruit complexity while complementing Lochlea's characteristic cereal and fruit-driven spirit.

The aroma opens with ripe red fruits and freshly baked banana loaf, creating an inviting combination of fruit and warm bakery notes. On the palate, the whisky develops into layers of dried fruit, leather, and malt biscuits, balancing rich sherry influence with the underlying malt character.
