Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho Orange 750ml
Koncho Orange Qvevri Wine is a dry Georgian amber wine from Koncho & Co, crafted in Kakheti using Georgia's ancient qvevri winemaking tradition. Combining indigenous Georgian grape varieties with extended skin contact and natural fermentation, this expressive orange wine delivers an inviting balance of ripe fruit, texture, freshness, and subtle tannin.
Produced from 70% Kisi and 30% Rkatsiteli, Koncho Orange brings together two of Georgia's celebrated native white grape varieties. Kisi contributes aromatic richness and stone-fruit character, while Rkatsiteli provides freshness, acidity, and mineral structure.
The grapes are grown in the Kvareli region of Kakheti, near the slopes of the Caucasus Mountains, where the vineyards feature distinctive black schist soils.
Following traditional Georgian winemaking practices, the wine is fermented in a qvevri, the large clay vessel historically used for winemaking in Georgia. Spontaneous fermentation takes place with wild yeast, followed by extended contact with the grape skins and stems. The wine remains in qvevri for approximately six months, developing its distinctive golden-orange color, texture, and aromatic complexity.
Koncho Orange offers enticing aromas of white cherry, dried apricot, and stone fruit, complemented by delicate vanilla nuances. The palate is dry and textured yet approachable, with crisp acidity providing freshness and balance before a long, satisfying finish.
At 13% ABV, this medium-bodied Georgian orange wine is an excellent introduction to traditional qvevri wine while offering enough complexity for experienced amber-wine enthusiasts.
Serve slightly chilled and enjoy on its own or alongside cheese, poultry, charcuterie, roasted vegetables, Mediterranean cuisine, or Georgian dishes.
